Russia Launches Massive Drone Assault on Ukraine

Russia resumed large-scale drone attacks on Ukraine shortly after a US-brokered ceasefire expired, killing several civilians and injuring many others across multiple regions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia launched nearly 800 drones within a single day and warned that missile strikes could follow. The attacks targeted civilian infrastructure, including railway facilities and residential areas.

Multiple Ukrainian Regions Targeted

Heavy strikes were reported in several regions including Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, and Rivne.
According to regional authorities:

Dnipropetrovsk Region
  • More than 30 Russian attacks were reported
  • Eight people were killed
  • Eleven others were injured
  • Dozens of homes were damaged
Donetsk and Kharkiv
  • One person was killed in Donetsk
  • Four people were injured
  • Five civilians were wounded in Kharkiv after residential areas were hit
Rivne and Zaporizhzhia
  • Three people died after a residential building was struck in Rivne

Kherson Region

Ukraine Warns of More Russian Missile Strikes

Ukraine’s military intelligence agency warned that Russia could continue “protracted” attacks. Officials said Russia is using waves of drones to overload Ukraine’s air defense systems before possible missile launches.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that:

  • 753 drones were launched during Wednesday alone
  • Another 139 drones were launched overnight
  • Many drones were intercepted, but several hit their targets
Russia Claims Ukrainian Drone Attacks Inside Russia

Russia’s defense ministry claimed it intercepted 286 Ukrainian drones across multiple Russian regions and Crimea.

Russian officials also reported:

  • A gas processing plant fire in Astrakhan
  • Damage to industrial facilities in Krasnodar and Yaroslavl
  • One death in Belgorod caused by a Ukrainian drone strike

Ukraine has recently increased attacks on Russian energy and industrial facilities, saying they are legitimate military targets supporting Russia’s war effort.

Ukraine War Continues After Ceasefire Collapse

The latest escalation came after a temporary three-day ceasefire ended on Monday. Although both sides accused each other of violating the truce, major aerial attacks had largely paused during the ceasefire period. Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and drone warfare has since become one of the conflict’s most significant tactics.
