Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo exited Tuesday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after suffering a sprained left ankle during the sixth inning.The injury occurred when Nimmo tried to beat out an infield single and accidentally stepped on first baseman Ildemaro Vargas’ foot. He immediately appeared to be in pain and was seen limping after the play.Although Nimmo briefly stayed in the game, he was later replaced by pinch-runner Sam Haggerty.
Rangers Provide Injury Update
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker confirmed after the game that X-rays on Nimmo’s ankle came back negative, which is positive news for the team.However, Schumaker said Nimmo did suffer a sprained ankle and will now be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

“You’ll talk to him, and he’ll try to tell you he’s going to play tomorrow. That’s just who he is,” Schumaker said.
He added that the team hopes they “dodged a bullet” with the injury.
